16 Nov Chisholm Tafe and ACM Parts car restoration project surging ahead
The Chisholm Tafe and ACM Parts car restoration project is well and truly in gear, with Chisholm’s young automotive guns busy pitting their mettle against metal to repair the used vehicle by Christmas.
ACM Parts donated the 2007 Toyota Corolla Ascent to Chisholm Automotive earlier in the year for automotive mechanical, paint and panel apprentices and pre-apprentices to flex and perfect their repairing skills, using top-quality automotive parts ACM Parts had also donated to the project.
The newly buffed and polished vehicle will be sold at auction to raise funds for Chisholm scholarships for disadvantaged students through the Caroline Chisholm Education Foundation.
The Toyota is already looking good, with the car’s structural damage repaired and primed and the car doors replaced, prepped and painted. Chisholm’s apprentices have also stripped, prepped and primed the front and rear bumpers and repaired the paint and body defects.
There’s not long to go now, with the final assembly and detailing still on the agenda. Look out for more project updates and details of the end-of-year auction.
